USA Yoga Mastery Journey April 10 – 12 Session Details
Sangha in the Yoga Mastery Journey
Friday, April 10

This session brings the Yoga Mastery Journey into the dimension of shared presence and collective reflection through Sangha, or community inquiry. Mastery is not only cultivated individually; it is strengthened and clarified in the resonance of others walking the path.
Sangha is a gathering rooted in attentive listening, reflection, and considered response. Under the guidance of Yogi Ashokananda, participants explore themes that emerge naturally from practice and experience. This is not a discussion for debate or opinion, but a space for insight to arise through clarity, sincerity, and shared inquiry.
Participants are invited to ask questions, share reflections, and present experiences that have emerged from their practice. The group setting allows understanding to deepen, not only through individual contemplation, but through the collective resonance of attentive, present community.
Sangha supports integration of the Immersion and the broader Yoga Mastery Journey by grounding teachings in lived experience. It provides space to articulate learning, refine understanding, and strengthen the connection between knowledge and practice.
This session honours the role of community in supporting the path. Mastery is enhanced not through agreement, but through shared commitment to clarity, sincerity, and disciplined practice. Sangha is a reminder that the journey is both personal and shared, and that the presence of others can illuminate one’s own path.
Foundations of Mastery – Himalayan Hatha Yoga
Saturday, April 11
This session marks the beginning of the Yoga Mastery Journey through the disciplined practice of Himalayan Hatha Yoga. Mastery begins with foundation. Without steadiness in the body, there can be no steadiness in awareness.

The practice offers a clear and methodical exploration of asana, with careful attention to posture, alignment, and the natural coordination of breath. The emphasis is not on performance, intensity, or outer achievement. Instead, the focus is on learning how to inhabit each posture consciously, allowing the body to organise itself with balance, integrity, and ease.
Asanas are taught to support joint and ligament health, muscular harmony, and structural stability. Each movement is approached with precision and respect for the individual body. Breath awareness serves as an anchor, steadying the mind and guiding the practitioner into deeper presence. In this way, practice unfolds without force and without ambition.
For those new to yoga, this session establishes a safe and intelligent foundation. For experienced practitioners and teachers, it offers refinement and a return to essentials. Mastery is not built upon complexity. It is cultivated through attention to fundamentals.
This first step in the Yoga Mastery Journey invites you to reconnect with the body as the vehicle of transformation. Through steadiness, sensitivity, and disciplined awareness, you begin to establish a relationship with practice that can mature over time. Here, mastery is seeded in simplicity, clarity, and conscious engagement.
Refining Energy
Pranayama in the Yoga Mastery Journey
Saturday, April 11
This session deepens the Yoga Mastery Journey through the foundational practice of Pranayama. If the body is the vehicle, the breath is the bridge between body and awareness. Mastery requires sensitivity to this bridge.
Pranayama is introduced as a steady and accessible discipline through which one becomes familiar with the relationship between breath, awareness, and life force, known as prana. Through simple and appropriate breathing practices, participants observe how the quality of breath influences inner steadiness, mental clarity, and presence.
The emphasis is not on force, control, or performance. It is on intelligent observation and refinement. Participants learn to breathe in a way that is natural, balanced, and supportive of the nervous system. Careful attention is given to inhalation, exhalation, and the subtle pauses between them. In these transitions, one begins to recognise how breath shapes the state of the body and mind.
For beginners, this session establishes a conscious relationship with breathing that brings calm and stability. For experienced practitioners and teachers, it offers deeper sensitivity and precision in working with prana. In both cases, the aim is refinement of awareness.
Within the Yoga Mastery Journey, Pranayama becomes a means of regulating the system and preparing the mind for deeper inner work. As the breath steadies, awareness naturally turns inward. Through this process, balance arises, and the practitioner begins to experience mastery not as control, but as harmony.
Settling the Self
Atma Kriya Meditation
Saturday, April 11
This session deepens the Yoga Mastery Journey through the practice of Atma Kriya Meditation, a quiet and reflective discipline that cultivates inward awareness. Once the body is steady and the breath refined, the mind is prepared to turn inward, discovering the stillness that underlies all activity.
Atma Kriya Meditation invites attention to settle naturally, supported by breath, gentle focus, and receptive presence. There is no effort to force states or achieve particular experiences. Instead, participants are guided to observe the natural rhythm of breath and awareness, allowing the mind to quieten and attention to rest fully in the present moment.
For beginners, this session provides an accessible introduction to meditation, offering space to pause, listen inwardly, and cultivate patience. For experienced practitioners and teachers, it offers refinement of subtle attention and deeper insight into the movement of consciousness. In both cases, meditation becomes a tool to develop clarity, steadiness, and self-awareness that extends into daily life.
The session includes a discourse on the principles and purpose of meditation, followed by time for questions and shared inquiry with Yogi Ashokananda. This reflective dialogue deepens understanding, supporting participants in integrating meditation into the Yoga Mastery Journey with authenticity and discernment.
Restoring the Self
Himalayan Hatha Yoga Restorative Practice
Saturday, April 11
This session continues the Yoga Mastery Journey through a restorative approach to Himalayan Hatha Yoga. Mastery is not only cultivated through effort and discipline, but also through the ability to slow down, settle, and allow the body and mind to rest.

Participants are guided through a small number of asanas, practiced with ease, attentive awareness, and sensitivity to breath. Movements are gentle and deliberate, allowing the body to soften and the mind to quieten. The emphasis is not on achieving posture or intensity, but on listening to the body, feeling its needs, and allowing awareness to return naturally to breath and presence.
The session primarily involves seated and lying practices, offering support to the nervous system and cultivating a sense of safety, groundedness, and inner stability. For beginners, it provides a gentle introduction to mindful embodiment. For experienced practitioners and teachers, it offers a space to deepen subtle awareness, restore energy, and refine internal attention.
Within the Yoga Mastery Journey, restorative practice becomes a vital tool. By creating space for stillness and reflection, the body recovers, the mind settles, and clarity naturally arises. This session invites participants to reconnect with their inner landscape, nurturing resilience, presence, and the ability to engage fully with subsequent stages of practice.

Directing the Energy
Prana Kriya Yoga
Sunday, April 12
This session advances the Yoga Mastery Journey through the disciplined practice of Prana Kriya Yoga. Once the body is steadied and the breath refined, the practitioner begins to work more consciously with the movement of energy.

Prana Kriya Yoga integrates movement, breath, primordial sound, and focused attention in a structured and methodical way. The purpose is not to pursue extraordinary experiences or dramatic outcomes. It is to cultivate sensitivity to how these elements influence awareness and inner balance.
Kriyas are introduced with clarity and accessibility. Movements are coordinated with breath in a manner that is measured and intentional. Participants are guided to observe how energy is perceived within the body, and how proper pacing, alignment, and ease create stability rather than agitation. Through this attentive approach, practice becomes precise and purposeful.
For those new to yoga, this session provides a careful introduction to energetic discipline without overwhelm. For experienced practitioners and teachers, it offers refinement of coordination, timing, and internal perception. Mastery develops not through intensity, but through intelligent repetition and steady awareness.
Within the Yoga Mastery Journey, Prana Kriya Yoga serves as a means of directing the inner current. As movement, breath, and sound become unified through attention, awareness naturally turns inward. In this integration, the practitioner begins to recognise that mastery is the ability to remain steady and conscious within the flow of energy itself.
The Mastery of Stillness
The Power of Relaxation
Sunday, April 12

This Master Class brings the Yoga Mastery Journey to a culminating stage, exploring relaxation as a deliberate and cultivated state. Mastery is not only skill in movement or breath; it is the ability to rest fully while remaining aware, present, and integrated.
Relaxation is approached not as collapse or escape, but as the natural result of correct posture, balanced breath, and regulated flow of prana. Participants examine how alignment of the body, coordination of breath, and conscious attention influence the nervous system, supporting stability, receptivity, and clarity.
Special focus is given to the relationship between breath and prana. By settling the movement of energy, the body and mind are able to rest without dullness, allowing awareness to observe habitual tension patterns and conditioned responses without resistance. Guided relaxation practices and meditation are introduced as complementary disciplines, each fostering stillness in its own way.
The teachings draw upon traditional yogic understanding of the chakras, with particular attention to grounding and stability in the lower centres. This creates the conditions for ease, presence, and centeredness to arise naturally. The practice encourages honesty and acceptance of experience as it is, rather than striving for any particular emotional state.
This session offers practical tools for cultivating relaxation, stillness, and inner quiet as ongoing practices. For beginners, it provides a safe and supportive entry into deep restorative awareness. For experienced practitioners and teachers, it offers a path to refine subtle attention, integrate body and energy, and maintain steadiness in life and practice. In the Yoga Mastery Journey, the cultivation of stillness completes the circle, preparing the practitioner to move forward with clarity, balance, and conscious presence.
Puja – Sacred Fire Ceremony
Sunday, April 12
Join Yogi Ashokananda for a sacred Puja ceremony, a Vedic fire ritual conducted in honour of our gathering. This ceremony centres around a specific intention, with the fire prepared using carefully selected items to support that focus.

During the ceremony, Yogi Ashokananda, our pujari, will guide you through the traditional Vedic rituals. These include mantra chanting and offerings, engaging all your senses and connecting with the elements. As part of this spiritual practice, participants are invited to receive a blessing symbolized by vibhuti. This sacred substance, placed on your forehead at the ajna chakra (third eye), represents loyalty, devotion, and commitment.
The ajna chakra is associated with balancing the higher and lower selves, trusting your inner guidance, and enhancing visual consciousness and intuitive clarity. By marking this chakra, the ceremony aims to retain and amplify this energy, strengthening your concentration and purifying your thoughts, speech, actions, habits, and ultimately, your character.
This Puja is a profound opportunity to honour your intellect, connect deeply with your inner self, and leave with a sense of renewed clarity and purpose.
