Retreat Date 16 – 25 November w/ Michelle Rae
Yoga, Meditation & Dinacharya Retreat with Michelle Rae – 10 Day Retreat in India
During this retreat you will explore Dinacharya with Michelle, Dinacharya is a concept in Ayurvedic medicine that looks at the cycles of nature and plans daily activities around these cycles. Ayurveda contends that routines help establish balance and that understanding daily cycles are useful for promoting health.
The daily activities will include morning and evening Himalayan Hatha Yoga practice, meditation practice – ATMA & trataka meditations, chanting, pranayama, self massage & healthy sattvic meals. Michelle will include Prana Kriya Yoga practices and a cleansing kriya, jala neti, during the retreat. The meditation sessions will be held in the recently opened meditation dome and the yoga sessions will be held in the stunning yogashala in the round and occasionally on the rooftop to take advantage of the beautiful sunrises over Mt. Arunachala.
Michelle has planned for a few special onsite & offsite activities including an ayurvedic workshop, a 60 minute ayurvedic treatment and a guided excursion to the 9th century temple, Annamalaiyar, a visit to Ramana Ashram with a trek to the caves and a sunrise hike to the summit of the holy mountain, Mt Arunachala. On the last evening you will celebrate and participate in a sacred puja ceremony, held around the fire in our onsite temple.
During this retreat you will develop a keen awareness of your daily cycles and how to support them with nutrition, physical, mental and spiritual activities.
Yoga Retreat Host – Michelle Rae
Michelle has trained with Yogi Ashokananda in London and India, and teaches Himalayan Hatha Yoga, Prana Kriya yoga and Meditation in the UK & India. There are all the disciplines developed by Yogi Ashokananda. Michelle is also a qualified Ayurvedic Massage Therapist – working and teaching in clinics in India as well as the UK. Michelle’s regular classes are slow flowing with a deeply meditative approach – aligning mind, body and soul.
Location Information – Yogiville India
At Yogiville India, we are quite traditional with our approach. For example, the food prepared is grown onsite or locally, is organic, and follows sattvic principles. We see yoga as a way of life, not just a physical practice, and the approach we take to nutrition / food is just one example.
Another is the natural environment which will support the retreat. Reconnecting with nature is an integral part of the yoga retreat experience. Yogiville covers 13 acres of land on the edge of a village, which is on the outskirts of the town of Tiruvannamalai in South India. The land has been transformed over the past few years into a homeland for many new and returning species, with increasingly diverse flora & fauna. We have several fields of orchards and farmland growing many types of fruits and vegetables to feed our guests, workers, and cows.
Nestled in between the gardens, orchards, and fields, the facilities for the yoga and meditation retreat include a large open-air Yogashala, Meditation bowl, and temple area. Also on the Yogiville grounds is the Sita Devi Charity School, which educates around 100 primary school children per year, incorporating yoga and meditation into the curriculum. Karma yoga at Sita Devi is one of many optional daytime activities during the retreat.
Neuroprana is an onsite serene sanctuary providing a natural and holistic approach to health care, nutrition and physical / mental development. We provide ayurvedic and naturopathic treatments in rooms specially designed for the treatments.
At Neuroprana, you can receive an Ayurvedic consultation and a variety of Ayurvedic & naturopathic treatments, including full body massage, indian head massage, shirodhara and many more.
A variety of rooms are available on a private or shared basis. Several rooms face Mt Arunachala to enjoy the sunrises over this glorious mountain, while other rooms outlook enjoy the swimming pool and views of the low lying hills to the North. We are pleased to offer our Super Deluxe Rooms, added in early 2019, all air conditioned, ensuite, solar powered hot water and the largest rooms available. Our newly added basic rooms (first floor) provide an economical solution to this retreat with shared bathrooms (male & female) on the ground floor.
All our organic food is grown onsite, locally and our kitchen follows sattvic principles, i.e. all vegetarian, no eggs, no onion, no garlic & no mushrooms. We serve 3 daily healthy meals offered all prepared at time of meal in our onsite Ananda Kitchen. The most amazing seasonal fruit is available throughout the day to snack on along with chai, herbal teas (some grown onsite) & water. All drinking water and water used in our kitchen is bottled mineral water.
We are served by three airports in the region, Chennai, Bangalore and Trichy (Tiruchirappalli). Chennai Airport Transfers included in Fee, other airport transfers can be arranged at an additional cost.
